Snakes are " crafty creatures " that can be found anywhere . Of cold continental arctic , to the arid desert . You could say , a snake is accomplished explorers .
This is what makes scientists inspired , and use the ' talent ' snake to explore the planet Mars , which is quite heavy . Because basically , Mars has a surface that is quite challenging .
A team from the SINTEF research institute , in Trondheim , Norway , is studying how robotic snake can be used to collect samples from areas quite difficult to reach on the red planet .
This project is part of a feasibility study by the European Space Agency ( ESA ) , which aims to provide a larger sample of the robots ever in orbitkan there .
This snake robot can be connected to a conventional robot that has been there before , like Curiosity . So they can take samples that were previously difficult to reach.
" The ability to maneuver is the challenge . Rocer previously sent frequently trapped sand on Mars , says Pål Aksel Liljebäck and Transeth at SINTEF ICT .
The snake robot will be named Wheeko , and is in the testing stage to glide on flat surfaces . Circuit consists of 10 modules that make up the joint like a human , and each has a drive to be spinning .
This robot is worth the wait , and that contributes to the world of science . You can also see the video at this link .
